The A Brush With Kindness (ABWK) program aims to partner with and provide for interior and exterior home repair services for low-income homeowners in need. ABWK program began in 2010 as the result of a merger with the local Christmas in April/Rebuilding Together Chapter in Sheridan.

Home Repair Program
Serving Sheridan and Johnson County
The Home Repair Program partners with low-income homeowners, with a focus on those aged 50 and older, to provide essential repairs that support aging in place and ensure homes remain safe, accessible, and livable.
The program began in 2010 as the result of a merger with the local Christmas in April/Rebuilding Together Chapter in Sheridan.
Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated need
- Safety, heath, and/or code violations to be addressed
- Owns home or is paying a mortgage
2. Ability to pay
- Have a documented family net income, which represents 30% to 60% of the current area medium income (AMI) calculation based on HUD's annual income limits data
- Show reliable source(s) of income
- Have adequate income to sustain no interest monthly payments
- Provide a down payment of 5%
3. Willingness to partner
- Is committed to full partnership on the specified projects
- Understands and fulfills the sweat equity requirements
