The A Brush With Kindness (ABWK) program aims to partner with and provide for interior and exterior home repair services for low-income homeowners in need. ABWK program began in 2010 as the result of a merger with the local Christmas in April/Rebuilding Together Chapter in Sheridan.

The A Brush With Kindness (ABWK) program aims to partner with and provide home repair services* for low-income homeowners in need.

 

ABWK program began in 2010 as the result of a merger with the local Christmas in April/Rebuilding Together Chapter in Sheridan.

*HFHEB is only accepting exterior repairs at this time

  • Critical home repair

  • Home preservation

  • Minor patching

  • Landscaping

  • Weatherization

  • Exterior painting

Paint Buckets

Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated need

- Safety, heath, and/or code violations to be addressed
- Owns home or is paying a mortgage

2. Ability to pay
- Have a documented family net income, which represents 30% to 60% of the current area medium income (AMI) calculation based on HUD's annual income limits data
- Show reliable source(s) of income
- Have adequate income to sustain no interest monthly payments
- Provide a down payment of 5%

3. Willingness to partner
- Is committed to full partnership on the specified projects
- Understands and fulfills the sweat equity requirements
