RV travel with a purpose
RV travel just got better! RV Care-A-Vanners is a volunteer program for anyone who travels in a recreational vehicle, wants to build Habitat houses and have fun doing it. RV Care-A-Vanners welcomes people of all ages, from all walks of life who want to pick up a hammer and help change lives.

No experience is necessary
Every RV Care-A-Vanner build project is a unique and rewarding experience. There are ample opportunities to learn and plenty of meaningful work for everyone. No previous construction experience is necessary. RV Park: You will be staying at Peter D’s RV Park. Directions to the park are as follows: easy on/off I-90. Take exit 23 (5th St.) and go west .3 mi to Joe Street. The address is 1105 Joe Street. The camping rate is $35 per night and the affiliate is covering a portion of that and asking for at least a $20 donation/night. The park has pedestals with 30/50 amp service, water, and sewer at each space. Internet connection is available as well as cable TV at no extra charge. The park also has restrooms, showers, a private phone, and a laundry room available.  Pets are allowed in the park on a leash. Campers are asked to be good neighbors and pick up dog droppings. Pets are NOT allowed at the work site.

Weather: The temperature in Sheridan throughout the summer can vary from rain to high in the 100’s. The key is to bring layers and pack the rain parka.

Construction: Groups will be working on all phases of construction, as well as some ABWK projects.
Tools:  Bring all the personal tools you may want to use.  We suggest a hammer, tool belt or nail pouch, measuring tape, utility knife, pencil, and work gloves for starters.  The affiliate has all the power tools needed.  If you have a personal hard hat and safety glasses that you use, bring them. Please mark your tools for identification.

What else to bring: Bring old clothes to work in and sturdy shoes. The weather can always change so bring layers. Be sure to have sunscreen, a hat, and water bottle. You may want to bring lawn chairs to take to the site for lunch time and breaks.

Work Schedule: The work day will start with a devotion and the “plan of the day” for work from the construction supervisor. We will work from 8am until 4pm Tuesday – Saturday.

Lunches: The affiliate will provide as many lunches as possible. You will be informed a head of time if there is a day when you must bring your own lunch.

Devotions: Habitat builds start each work day with a short devotion. If you have a favorite devotion you would like to share, just let us know. We also believe in a joke a day, so bring your favorite along.

Mail Delivery & Emergency Phone Number: You can have your mail sent to you c/o HFH Sheridan, PO Box 6196, Sheridan, WY 82801. The telephone number at the office (for emergencies only) is 1-307-672-3848.

Orientation Meeting: We plan to have an orientation/pot luck meeting Sunday afternoon at Peter D’s RV Park. Orientation will be on the evening of your scheduled arrival.
